Non-fiction Guidelines

1. Please Send Submissions to patrick@emprisereview.com in a Word or PDF compatible attachment along with a brief bio if you like.

2. Work Must Be Original

3. We are looking for some fairly specific types of work.

a. Book Reviews–Fiction, 500-1,000 words, contemporary generally preferred.

b. Film Reviews–Art, Indie, Blockbuster–the genre doesn’t matter, we want an interesting an opinionated piece that doesn’t just sum up the movie. Be creative. We don’t Entertainment Weekly boilerplate. Relatively brief–we are looking for something between 300 and 1,000 words.

c. Lists–Content is up to you. Be creative. Epic lists (hundreds or thousands long) aren’t funny or desired.

d. Publishing/Writing Blogging

e. Pop Culture Essays–Analysis of what is going on out there. Can be multimedia like Jennifer Spiegel’s recent Lost essay for us or it can be straight-text.

4. We are looking for a regular contributor or contributors to provide any or all of the above. If this is something you are interested in please provide a sample along with your proposed column and schedule.

5. If there is a text you are interested in reviewing we are open to soliciting a review copy for you.
