Bonanzaville, U.S.A., a small museum in West Fargo, N.D. Inside a building which used to be a Northern Pacific railroad depot sits a huge model train, which is set up to replicate the routes trains take through Fargo and its neighbor Moorhead, MN. I spent a good part of my visit admiring the detail and the craftsmanship of the train set, and in doing so I discovered these hobos, trying to keep warm in what looks to me like a late-October afternoon. They seemed very lonely, yet happy to have found each other. I have always been fascinated by trains, and the lifestyle of travelers has always held, for me, a mixture of romance and danger. Kudos to the Spud Valley Model Railroad Club, which set up and operates this display.
